Girls Empowerment Movement

The District 19 Girls Empowerment Movement Mentoring program for young ladies is designed to support the growth and development of young ladies. GEM’s initiative promotes confidence, strength, beauty, and the use of their voices to uplift their communities

M.B.K.

My Brother's Keeper

My Brother's Keeper is designed for African American/Latino boys is grades 4 and 5. This initiative helps to shape the emotional well being of our young men. The facilitators have received specialized training from the District 19 office experts. The boys are given mentors who they can rely on throughout their educational journey.

Student Government

The  Student Government Association is made up of members from our 5th grade senior class. They meet twice a month with Ms. Southerland and Principal Hinds to discuss the future improvement for our school, their viewpoint on instruction, fundraising activities, and community service options for our scholars.

Restorative Practice

The 4R's curriculum (Reading, Writing, Respect, and Resolution) engages the imagination and creativity of children in grades 3K-5 to help develop critical skills including empathy, community building and conflict resolution.

Leader in Me helps schools create well-rounded learners by developing the whole-person and preparing students to become life-ready leaders.

Leader in Me unites students, staff, and families around a common goal to prepare students with college, career, and life-readiness skills that are necessary to thrive in today’s ever-changing, fast-paced environment.

Second Grade Swim

Second grade is an ideal time for young people to take on new challenges, learn more skills and enhance their feelings of mastery and competence. Through 2nd Grade Learn to Swim, the YMCA seeks to offer children lessons in swimming skills and water safety that will keep them safe and build physical and social skills.
